lyrics

It was just in the nick of time that my eyesight failed
We were just so ill-advised, like children drinking milk
The last stretch was embarrassing, we were more sad than mad
The door was locked, but the key was still underneath the mat

The carpet smelled of alcohol, a candle was still lit
Our white curtains stained tobacco-brown, identities still fit
Those times we ate breakfast on the porch, silence seemed so fitting at the time
I could’ve said about a hundred different things, but it was never the right time

My own pride kept me from the full experience
My own Love hid behind a wall of experience
We both held back mostly ‘cause we both lacked experience
We both stood still gaining invaluable experience
Hands are the new eyes

It was just in the nick of time that you were there for me
And, we moved so carelessly as if we’d just first met
I was so vulnerable, it’s funny how things turn out
…The door was still locked, but key was knowing who to keep out

My own pride kept me from the full experience
My own Love hid behind a wall of experience
We both held back mostly ‘cause we both lacked experience
We both stood still gaining invaluable experience
Hands are the new eyes
